Hybrid

“Hybrid” is a performance that my colleague Lamis Adel and I did in summer 2013. The idea behind this project was how the society forces us to change our identity to adapt and fit in. In this performance one character tries to enforce the identity transformation to the other, clad in ethnic clothing, by changing her clothing and accessories. The other character tries to put her original clothes on again. This process starts peacefully and then turns into a physical fight. Finally, she ends up with a combination of new and old pieces of clothing, a hybrid of ethnic and western.
